here are diverse, and we may be planning to do different things in our countries, but the ultimate reason for us going is the same: Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some of the countries represented here include, Haiti, Spain, Uganda, Thailand, and Cote D'Ivoir (which I never even heard about before) and of course Peru! The week went by in a blur of making connections with others, beginning to scratch the surface of the emotional component that we are all experiencing now and then will on the field, learning strategies to help with language learning, and then practicing drills with our mouths and ears to get our mouths used to making non English sounds and our ears to hear them. On top of all this we've had some homework and reflection journals. I am learning so much and can't believe that this was just in the first week! I am thankful that I get to be here for 3 more weeks to learn how to be better prepared for this upcoming journey I will be on. What I'm most thankful for is the time I've been able to connect with others and hear their story about how God led them to where they are now. How great is it that God put a heart for missions in each one of us to all different parts of the world! It is definitely an encouragement to know that I am not alone in this journey. As great as all the training is during the week, I was certainly glad for the time off to rest and relax and have some fun over the weekend. A group of about 12 of us went to a hiking place known as The Garden of the Gods. It was beautiful! (See pics above) and fun to get to know individuals better. On a side note, most of you have received an email this past week explaining my current situation with my condo. I am still waiting to hear if the bank will finally approve this offer so that I can close this door. For whomever has responded either in prayer or financially, I am truly grateful. Your support, and prayers have been so very encouraging to me in this time of unrest in my life. I know that God knows all the details of every aspect of my life, and so I am sure He will take care of this too.
So, here are a few prayer requests. Please continue to pray for the bank to approve this sale in the next 2 weeks and for my financial need to be completely taken care of to move this forward. Please also pray that I can stay focused on my training here and not distracted by this condo situation or anything else that might take me away from what I'm learning here. Please pray that I can continue to learn and grow from where I was at the beginning of this training to better prepare me for my move to Peru. Lastly, please pray that I can go deeper with the friendships here so that we can be an encouragement to each other when we go to our perspective countries. Thanks and God Bless you all!
