Today, I spent the day at the church that is hosting me, Camino de Vida. Tuesday is their staff meeting day in the morning. So we started with worship, then a nice message from Pastor Robert, and some details about upcoming events. It was very nice. Wouldn´t it be great if we could all start our work week praising the Lord with our coworkers in this way?
After this I met with a woman at the church who runs the Love Me ministry at the church. I got the opportunity to hear her story. Why she helped to start this ministry for special needs children and adults. Her son is the reason. He is 36 years old and has cerebral palsy. I met him at the Love Me ministry on sunday, he is a nice man, but has some pretty severe involvement both physically and cognitively. She shared her immediate need and desire was to involve her son. Then it just grew from there into what it is today, a sunday school program for children and young adults with special needs. I was able to share some ideas with her that I had observed when I was there during sunday´s program. One specifically was to buy childproof doornobs to help prevent this boy who is about 10 years old from continuing to run out of the room. To keep him safe because potentially, he might run the wrong way and run into traffic. I was also able to share some other materials that I had prepared and brought with me, not knowing who would benifit from them, but of course, God knew what I needed to bring and provided it for me.
Then I was able to meet with Nick, the coordinator of all the outreach programs of the church and who shares this vision of providing therapy for those people receiving the wheelchairs. It was a very fruitful and productive meeting and he helped to prepare me for the meeting I will be having with Pastor Robert tomorrow morning at 10am! Please pray for continued clarity and for a productive meeting with him. Tomorrow I will also be visiting 3 more recepients of wheelchairs and seeing if there is anything I can be helping them with. We will also be bringing some donations to them to bless them as well. Thanks for your prayers everyone. I can feel them
